Consultant Dena Simmons trains Naperville teachers to “disrupt White privilege”

On Feb. 26, 2021, Naperville Community School District 203 hosted an all-district “Equity Institute” meeting with keynote speaker Dena Simmons, the founder of LiberatED. A whistleblower told The Federalist, “Much of her presentation was on systemic racism and she additionally made comments of ‘our education is based on a foundation of whiteness’ and we ‘are spiritually murdering’ our students.” In her material, Simmons urges attendees to “disrupt White privilege.” According to the whistleblower, Simons reportedly said “that if you are not an ‘antiracist’ you are a racist, even if you are treating people with respect.”

Simmons posts a reported speaking fee of $10,000 to $20,000, including topics on redistribution of wealth and social prestige by race. The school system also had a “virtual training hosted by speaker Valda Valbrun, who presented on the topic, “Leading for Equity: Efficacy and Action in Schools.” One of Valbrun’s PowerPoint images …alludes to a broader conspiratorial network of interconnected systems of ‘structural and institutional racism.'” The whistleblower said, “One of the visuals depicted a graph that differentiates between ‘covert’ and ‘overt’ white supremacy.”
