Coachella Valley Unified School District seeks “Gender and Identity Support Teacher Leads” for all elementary schools

Incidents

Teachers in Coachella Valley Unified School District can earn 20 extra service hours if they agree to become gender and identity support teacher leads at their elementary school sites. Responsibilities will include creating and administering Gender Support Plans—it is unclear if parent notification and consent will be required. At the middle and high school level it is common for these plans to be put in place without the knowledge of the child’s parents. These site leaders will also be expected to provide professional development trainings to staff in the form of mini-workshops about LGBT/gender basics and suicide prevention.

All of this is at the elementary school level.
