Chicago Public Schools’ provides a “Pride Guidance” document which encourages teachers to display “Pride flags, pictures of LGBTQ+ figures, and other supportive materials on school walls/bulletins” and to “host Pride Week.” The document notes that district goals includes every school will have a Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) by 2024.


The guidance also includes a link to a form to request “OUT for Safe School Badges,” “Gender & Sexuality Protections” which include transgender guidelines related to overnight trips and sports, and resources for Gender and Sexuality Alliance advisors.

The document also reminds district teachers and staff that, due to state law, students cannot opt out of “LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum.”
