Berkley Schools commit to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and use the word “belonging” to mean much more

The district has promised to prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion work. The district’s commitment and core beliefs that appear on the website focus on the importance of “belonging” but some parents have expressed concern about what seems to be a focus on social and group identities. Parents also expressed concerns about the one-sidedness and questionable validity of (at least some of) the “staff professional learning” as well as the recommended “resources for the community.”
