Antioch Unified School District hosts retreat for administrators with discussion on “dismantling racism in mathematics instruction”

On July 25, 2024, the Antioch Unified School District shared on Facebook that “district administrators attended AUSD’s annual Admin Retreat with presenter Dr. Daman Harris, author of ‘The Antiracist Leader.'” The district explained: “Creating safe spaces to have courageous discussions, and examining how school systems, policies, practices and procedures can shift to ultimately achieve our mission of all students reaching grade level and beyond were at the heart of the day’s learning.”

The district also shared photos from the event. A slide can be seen in one image that states: “As human beings, we are hardwired to notice similarities and differences.” Another slide states: “Dismantling Racism in Mathematics Instruction.”
