Shippensburg University offers an undergraduate certificate in ethnic studies, which emphasizes “understanding of cultural experiences of ethnic groups” and the “issues/challenges related to diversity and human understanding.”

  • The program allows students to “put theories about multiculturalism into practice.”

The course “introduces perspectives about ethnic realities in America” and facilitates “the formation of a well-rounded view of ethnic groups, an awareness of [one’s] own ethnicity, and an appreciation for human diversity.”

  • The course places a “major emphasis” on “African-Americans, Asian Americans, Latino America, and Native Americans.” 

Students must choose from a variety of far-left elective courses, such as:

  • “Race, Ethnicity, and Crime”
  • “African-American Literature”
  • “Voices of Black Anti-Racism and Protest”
  • “Psychology of Prejudice and the Minority Experience”
  • “Race in America”
