Clemson University’s College of Education features content such as decolonization, diversity, equity, inclusion, restorative justice/practices, Social Emotional Learning, tenets of queer theory, and white supremacy.

The course ED 1050: Orientation to Education includes topics such as diversity, equity, inclusion, and Social Emotional Learning.

The course description states that it “addresses basic program requirements, College of Education Conceptual Framework, state evaluation system, the nature of the diverse and multicultural classroom, standards and practices of professional conduct and requirements in teaching. A field experience involving tutoring in a P-12 classroom is required.”


The course ED 8250: Cultural Diversity in Education includes topics such as colorblindness, decolonization, micro-aggressions, tenets of queer theory, and white supremacy.

The course description states that it is an “examination of diverse cultures within education” and includes cultural components such as “race, ethnicity, linguistic identity, spirituality, gender and/or non gender conformity.”


The course ED 9320: Pedagogy and Practice includes topics such as antiblackness, culturally sustaining pedagogy, decolonization, restorative justice/ practices, social justice, and tenets of queer theory.

The course description states that it focuses on “approaches to designing instructional environments and pedagogical practices for PK-12 students.”


The course EDEL 4060: Social Justice and 21st Century Learners includes topics such as race, social justice, and tenets of queer theory.

The course description states that it “uses a social justice framework to identify cases of inequity in classrooms and extend a critical eye towards the institutions and societal structures that perpetuate them. Students consider ways to become agents of change by working to remove obstacles to equity.”
