Clark County School District Board in Las Vegas to Vote on Expanding Already-Controversial Sex Education Curriculum

Incidents

Clark County School District, which includes Las Vegas, Nevada, and nearby communities, will vote on Oct. 20, 2022, on their new and expansive sex education curriculum.

The special meeting of the board of trustees will include a vote to adopt these new materials.

Community members are allowed to speak at the meeting. The board meeting agenda may be found here.

The proposed new sex education curriculum expands on Clark County School District’s already controversial sex education. The 5th-grade curriculum includes detailed pictures of genitalia. The 9th-grade curriculum presents a group project in which students are asked to share how one can contract STDs and identify if a fellow student shares incorrect information. Moreover, the 9th-grade curriculum promotes information about “confidential” healthcare providers, including those who perform abortions.
